JAMMU: A BSF personnel was killed while six others were injured after the vehicle they were travelling in met with an accident in Mankote sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district on Sunday.
“A BSF vehicle Tata-407 (HR39 A 8662) skidded off the road and fell into a 250-feet deep gorge, resulting in injuries to seven personnel,” said sources.
“On getting information, locals, BSF and police launched a rescue operation and evacuated the injured to a nearby health facility where one of the injured, identified as Constable Ram Chandran of 158 battalion BSF, succumbed to his injuries,” they said.
“The injured have been identified as Feroz Ahmed, Sanjay Sarkar, Karamjeet Singh, Ajay Singh, Devender Singh – all constables, and driver/constable Emdadul Haque,” the sources said, adding that the police have registered a case and launched an investigation.
