Dharmendra has entertained people and wooed the audience with his on-screen presence for several decades now! He made his Hindi film debut in 1960 with ‘Dil Bhi Tera Hum Bhi Tere’ and he’s always called ‘Dharmendra’ which was his on-screen name. Despite the fact that, his sons, Sunny and Bobby chose to add the ‘Deol’ surname. At that point, Dharam ji had dropped his middle name which was made popular by his sons and they’re now called ‘The Deols’.Dharmendra’s daughter Esha also carried forward the same surname when she joined movies.
But guess what? It looks like after 64 years of his debut, Dharmendra has decided to change his on-screen name. The actor is a part of Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon’s latest movie ‘Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya‘ and he has been credited as Dharmendra Singh Deol in the movie.
Dharmendra was born to Kewal Kishan Singh Deol and Satwant Kaur. However, this has come quite a surprise for fans to see him change his name after now enjoying a veteran and legend status within the industry.
‘TBMAUJ’ also stars Dimple Kapadia. The film revolves around the love story of a man and a robot and Kriti is seen playing a robot in the movie.
Shahid has been elated to share screen space with Dharmendra. Ahead of the film’s release, the actor had shared the experience of working with him at a press conference in Delhi. He had said, “To share screen space with him is an honour. He is very loving and charismatic. Whenever he meets you there’s love in his hug. I just want his blessings. I have many scenes with him in the film, he plays my grandfather.”
Before this movie, Dharmendra was earlier seen in ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’, which was helmed by Karan Johar.
