Heavy rain causes water level rise in Gujarat’s Madhuban dam, floods national highway
The water level in Madhuban Dam rose due to heavy rains in Valsad on Saturday, as reported by the Disaster Management Authority. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in the district on Sunday.
Disaster Management Officer Naseem Sheikh stated, ‘Heavy rain in Valsad district has led to flooding in many low-lying areas and on the national highway. Disaster cell teams have been deployed to drain the water from these areas. Additionally, the heavy rains have caused the water level in Madhuban Dam to rise.’

The Centre has significantly enhanced the authority of the lieutenant governor in Jammu and Kashmir, allowing him to make decisions on key matters such as the police, all-India services officers, and granting prosecution sanctions in various cases. However, official sources stated that the notification does not alter the balance of powers as outlined in the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019.
