Lockdown in Delhi: What’s open and what’s shut | Delhi News


NEW DELHI: Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Monday that the government has decided to impose a lockdown in Delhi from 10pm tonight.
“There is a massive shortage of hospital beds, oxygen, medicines and drugs like Remdesivir,” Kejriwal said while announcing the lockdown.

Here is all you need to know about what will remain and what will remain closed during the lockdown:
What is open

  • The lockdown will remain in force from 10pm tonight to 5 am till next Monday.
  • Government officers are allowed to travel on the production of identity card.
  • Delhi government offices shall remain closed.
  • Essential and emergency services such as health and family welfare and all related medical establishments shall be allowed to function.
  • Services such as police, prison, home guard, civil defence, fire and emergency services, district administration, pay & account office, services, electricity, water and sanitation, public transport (air/railways/Delhi Metro/buses) will also be operational.
  • All courts and related officials would be allowed to travel on display of identity proof.
  • All private medical personnel such as doctors, nursing staff, paramedical and other hospital services such as diagnostic centres, testing laboratories, clinics, pharmacies, pharmaceutical companies, medical oxygen suppliers and other medical and health services shall be allowed to travel and function.
  • Pregnant women and patients shall be allowed to travel on production of identity card/doctor’s prescription/medical papers.
  • People who are going for Covid-19 testing or vaccination shall be allowed to travel on display of identity card.
  • People coming from or going to airports/ISBTs/Railway stations shall be allowed to travel on production of valid ticket.
  • Employees of electronic and print media will be allowed to travel on production of identity card.
  • There shall be no restriction on inter-state and intra-state movement/transportation of essential goods. No separate permission/e-pass will be required for such movements.
  • Marriage would be restricted to 50 people and funeral/last rites related gatherings upto 20 person would be allowed.
  • Stadiums shall be permitted to open for organising national and international sport events without spectators.

What is closed

  • All private offices/establishments, shops, shopping centres, malls, weekly markets, manufacturing units, education and coaching institutes, cinema and theatres, restaurant and bars, auditoriums/assembly halls, entertainment/amusement/water parks, public parks and gardens, sports complexes, gyms, spas, barbershops, salons, beauty parlours, swimming pools (except for those being used for training of sportspersons for national and international events), construction activities (except where labourers are residing onsite) shall remain closed during the lockdown.
  • All social, political, sports, entertainment, academic, cultural, religious and festival-related gatherings and congregations shall be prohibited.
