MUMBAI: The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has dismissed superintendent Vishwa Vijay Singh, who was a member of the team that apprehended actor Shah Rukh Khan’s son, Aryan Khan, during a raid on the Cordelia cruise in 2021, an official said on Tuesday.
The dismissal was due to his involvement in misconduct in a separate case for which he had previously been suspended.
The order to terminate Singh’s services was issued last month. The team, which included Singh, had apprehended Aryan Khan and others in the ‘drugs-on-cruise’ case in October 2021.
“Vishwa Vijay Singh was removed from NCB’s service in another case in which he was suspended last year and an inquiry was going on against him,” the official said.
He claimed that during the investigation, the NCB found a few instances of misconduct, and as a result, Singh’s dismissal from the service was decided.
A team led by Sameer Wankhede, the then-Mumbai zonal director of NCB, raided the Cordelia cruise at the Mumbai International Cruise Terminal in October 2021, leading to the arrest of Aryan Khan and others.
Drug possession, use, and trafficking charges were initially brought against the defendant.
Aryan Khan, who had spent 22 days in jail, was given a clean chit by NCB in May 2022 due to “lack of sufficient evidence”, officials had said.
A separate vigilance inquiry was conducted owing to allegations of high-handedness against the NCB team and Wankhede.
Departmental action was taken against seven officers in the alleged ‘drugs on cruise’ case. Wankhede, an IRS officer, was later transferred to the DG Taxpayer Service Directorate in Chennai, officials had said.
