Optical illusion: Count the number of legs in this image in 10 seconds

Visual perceptions often deceive us. For example, the optical illusion that we will be talking about today appears to be a simple row of legs, but upon closer inspection, it becomes clear that there is much more to it than what we see. This optical illusion was created by Shigeo Fukuda in 1975 and it continues to be one of the popular optical illusions even today.

What we know today for a fact is that our environment plays an important role in shaping our perception. Thus, artists and designers take advantage of this fact; they create artificial environments where our visual perceptions are deceived.
The Instagram page “Optical Illusions” has shared this puzzle and captioned it: “How many legs are in this picture?” The question has intrigued Instagram users.

This image can be perceived in two ways. Each view holds a place in the viewer’s minds revealing interesting facts about their communication skills!
According to an entertainment website, YourTango, the viewers who see the man’s leg first are direct speakers, who speak without a moment’s hesitation. While those who saw a woman’s leg first, are communicators who think before they speak. These people struggle to find the exact words to express themselves.
However, there is a third set of viewers: those who simultaneously saw both man’s and woman’s legs- These people tend to be direct communicators and have a knack for speaking out their minds without much planning.
But the real question is “How many legs did you see in the picture?”
Do not worry if you could not figure out the number. We are going to reveal the answers!
In this image, there are a total of 11 legs of men and 11 of women. Thus, there are 22 legs in this picture.
Were you able to find the total number of legs in this picture or did you struggle? Do not worry if you struggled this time. We will be coming up with more puzzles in the future. Stay tuned and keep brainstorming!
