WhatsApp users on Android may soon get ‘admin review’ feature

WhatsApp is said to be working on a new feature which will further improve the chatting experience on the app. The Meta-owned platform is reportedly developing a feature which will enable the group admins to better moderate their groups.
As reported by WABetaInfo, the website which tracks changes on WhatsApp build, the messaging app is working on a feature called ‘admin review’. When enabled the feature will allow the group members to report specific messages to the group admin. When a group member reports a message, it will be sent to the admin for review, and they will be able to choose to delete the message for everyone in the group if they believe it is inappropriate or violates the group’s rules.
WABetaInfo also shared a screenshot of the upcoming feature which shows that the option will be available within the group settings section. “Since this option is located within the group settings screen, it means that only group admins can turn on this feature. After enabling this option, group admins will definitely be able to moderate their groups better thanks to the reports sent by other group members. Reported messages will only be visible to group admins within a new section of the app, located within group info,” mentioned the report.
The upcoming WhatsApp feature will offer better control to the group members over the content shared within the group. The ability to report messages to group admins is under development and it will be released to beta testers in a future update of the app.
WhatsApp on Android to soon get this iOS feature
Meanwhile, WhatsApp is all set to bring an iOS feature of the app to Android. According to WABetaInfo’s report, a new feature may be introduced on the Meta-owned platform that will distinguish missed call names in red within the calls tab. This update aims to make it simpler for users to identify missed calls by highlighting their names in red. Currently, the feature is being tested and is only accessible to beta testers. However, it is anticipated that the feature will soon be made available to Android users.
