A major fire erupted on the set of the television show Anupamaa, starring Rupali Ganguly, early Monday morning around 5 AM.
The incident occurred before filming was set to begin at approximately 7 AM. News agency PTI shared visuals of the blaze on their official X account
A fire broke out early in the morning and completely destroyed the set of a TV show. The blaze was brought under control after several hours. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, according to civic authorities. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s fire brigade received the alert around 6 AM. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Following the incident, the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) issued a strong statement denouncing the continued negligence, declaring that “this issue will no longer be overlooked or swept under the rug.” AICWA called for the immediate suspension of the Managing Director of Film City.
In a separate post on X, the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) shared a strong statement from its President, Suresh Shyamlal Gupta. He urged the Honourable Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Shri Devendra Fadnavis, to initiate a high-level judicial inquiry into the recent fire incident. Mr. Gupta also called for the immediate suspension of the Managing Director of Film City and the Labour Commissioner of Mumbai, citing their negligence in enforcing safety protocols and holding them accountable for the lapse.
AICWA claims that because of collusion and deliberate negligence, producers are not being held accountable for following mandatory fire safety protocols, thereby endangering the lives of thousands of workers.
“AICWA has called for a criminal FIR to be lodged against the show’s producers, the production company, the television channel, the Managing Director of Film City, and the Labour Commissioner.
The organization has also urged authorities to investigate the possibility that the fire may have been deliberately set by the producers or the channel as part of an insurance fraud scheme — a deeply disturbing scenario that would imply lives were endangered for financial benefit.

The AICWE also called for the immediate blacklisting of any production house or channel found violating fire safety regulations.
