BluSmart Suspends Services: Here’s How Users Can Claim a Refund from Blu Wallet
BluSmart, once considered a promising competitor to ride-hailing giants like Uber and Ola, has abruptly halted its cab booking services across Delhi-NCR, Bengaluru, and Mumbai. The sudden suspension has left many users concerned—particularly those with prepaid balances in their Blu Wallet accounts.
Despite the mobile application still being available on both the Google Play Store and Apple App Store, the platform currently does not allow bookings for any time slot. The company has yet to release an official statement addressing the service disruption. However, reports suggest the halt follows a Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) investigation into Gensol Engineering, a sister company of BluSmart, over alleged financial irregularities.
Delhi International Airport has also issued a passenger advisory, confirming BluSmart’s temporary suspension of operations at the airport. BluSmart’s fare model differs from traditional ride-hailing platforms in that users are required to prepay for rides via the Blu Wallet. Frequent travellers often maintain larger balances in the wallet for convenience.
With services now unavailable and no clear communication from the company, many users are struggling to retrieve unused funds stored in their Blu Wallets. The app does not offer a direct option to initiate a refund, and reaching customer support has proven to be difficult for some.
How to Request a Refund from Blu Wallet
If you’re attempting to recover your Blu Wallet balance, here’s a step-by-step guide to help initiate a refund request:
- Open the BluSmart app on your smartphone.
- Tap the menu icon in the top-left corner and navigate to the Help section.
- Select ‘Blu Wallet’ from the list of help topics.
- You’ll be presented with FAQs related to the wallet and refunds. Scroll to the bottom and tap the thumb-down icon under the “Does this resolve your issue?” prompt.
- This will allow you to connect with the BluSmart support team, where you can submit a refund request.
Once your request is accepted and processed, the refunded amount should be credited back to your original mode of payment within 5 to 7 business days.
Users are advised to keep records of all communications and transaction details to assist in the resolution process, should further follow-up be required.
