In a significant development along the India-Pakistan border, the Border Security Force (BSF) successfully thwarted an infiltration attempt in the Samba sector of Jammu and Kashmir during the night of May 8-9, 2025. Seven heavily armed terrorists were neutralized in the operation, which also resulted in substantial damage to the Pakistani Rangers’ Dhandhar post, reportedly providing cover fire for the infiltrators.
According to a BSF spokesperson, the surveillance grid detected suspicious movement near the International Border, prompting immediate action from alert troops. The infiltrators were engaged and eliminated, and retaliatory fire targeted the Pakistani post aiding the infiltration. A video released by the BSF showcases the destruction inflicted on the Dhandhar post, including the demolition of a bunker .
This incident follows a series of escalations, including failed aerial strikes by Pakistan targeting Indian military bases and cities. All incoming drones and missiles were intercepted by India’s air defense systems, preventing casualties and damage. Subsequently, Pakistani forces resumed firing on Indian posts and border villages, to which Indian troops responded by destroying several Pakistani Army posts.
In response to the heightened tensions, civil administrations enforced blackouts in border cities such as Jammu, Srinagar, and parts of Punjab and Rajasthan. Air sirens were activated in Chandigarh, and residents were advised to stay indoors. Additionally, at least 24 airports were temporarily shut down to ensure the safety of travelers.
The BSF’s swift and decisive action in the Samba sector underscores India’s commitment to maintaining national security and countering cross-border terrorism. As tensions persist, the situation remains under close monitoring by defense and intelligence agencies.
