The Allegations Surface
A startling scandal has gripped Delhi as Swami Chaitanyananda Saraswati—also known by aliases like Partha Sarthy or Chinmayanad Saraswati—has been accused of sexually harassing numerous female students enrolled in a private management institute in Vasant Kunj. Reports say 32 students from the PGDM (Post Graduate Diploma in Management) program came forward, and 17 gave formal statements alleging abuse.
The complaints range from inappropriate messages and verbal harassment to unwanted physical contact. According to media reports, the first complaint was registered in early August at the Vasant Kunj North Police Station.
The Luxury Car and Forged Diplomatic Plate
A major twist in the case emerged when investigators found a Volvo car parked in the institute’s basement that allegedly carried a forged diplomatic/UN number plate — “39 UN 1.” The presence of a car with a fake UN plate has escalated suspicions of forgery, misuse of diplomatic symbolism, and deeper legal violations.
The case filed against him also includes charges of cheating and forgery in connection with the vehicle’s registration
Student Statements: Harassment, Texts & Pressure
Students allege that Chaitanyananda sent obscene WhatsApp or SMS messages, used abusive language, and touched them inappropriately. Some also reported that institute staff tried to pressure them into complying with his demands.
From the statements recorded:
- Unsolicited vulgar messages or texts
- Verbal abuse or sexual taunts
- Unwanted physical advances
- Coercion via staff intermediaries
These accounts paint a chilling picture of misuse of authority over vulnerable students.
Institute’s Reaction & Severing Ties
The institute in question was affiliated with Sharada Peetham. In response to the allegations, Sharada Peetham formally cut ties with Chaitanyananda, denouncing his actions as “illegal, inappropriate, and detrimental.” The institute’s management also issued statements to distance itself from him. The Times of India
Given the gravity of claims, the institute claimed no prior knowledge of misuse and pledged cooperation with authorities.
Police Action and Status of Investigation
Law enforcement has registered multiple FIRs — including sexual harassment, molestation, forgery, and cheating. Investigators have collected CCTV footage, digital evidence, seized materials, and are conducting forensic analysis.
As of now, Chaitanyananda is absconding, and police are seeking leads to trace him. There are reports that prior complaints or cases of molestation and fraud against him had arisen in the past, which are now resurfacing under renewed scrutiny.
Wider Implications & Questions Raised
This scandal raises serious concerns on multiple fronts:
- Abuse of authority in educational institutions: When a leader in an academic institution exploits students, it undermines trust and safety.
- Diplomatic impunity perception: The use of fake diplomatic plates suggests an attempt to escape or evade local jurisdiction.
- Accountability & oversight: How did such alleged behavior go unnoticed? What internal checks failed?
- Victim protection & whistleblower support: Ensuring students can safely raise grievances without retaliation.
- Legal precedence and deterrence: Strong consequences are essential to deter future misuse of power.
It remains to be seen how thoroughly investigators will dig into his past, verify the forged vehicle documents, and prosecute all violations. For students and parents across India, this case is a bitter reminder that safeguards and transparency are nonnegotiable in academic spaces.
