The Indian Navy shared a powerful visual on Saturday featuring a surface ship, submarine, and helicopter, collectively referred to as the “Trident of Naval Power.” The image, posted on X, showcases the INS Kolkata destroyer, a Dhruv Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH), and a Scorpene-class submarine, symbolizing the Navy’s multi-dimensional capabilities: above, below, and across the waves.
This post has gained significant attention, although the Dhruv ALH is currently grounded within the Navy. The timing of the post coincides with the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan following the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed 26 lives.
India has reacted strongly to the attack, which is suspected to have cross-border links, by implementing several punitive measures against Pakistan. These measures include the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, the closure of the only operational land border crossing at Attari, and the downgrading of diplomatic ties.
In the aftermath of the attack, Prime Minister Narendra Modi vowed that those responsible for the assault would face “the harshest response.” In his “Mann Ki Baat” address, he reiterated India’s commitment to fighting terrorism, promising justice for the victims’ families.
The Navy’s post follows a series of high-profile visual displays of India’s naval strength. Recently, the Navy shared footage of warships in the Arabian Sea conducting multiple successful anti-ship firings. These exercises featured BrahMos anti-ship and anti-surface cruise missiles launched from warships, including Kolkata-class destroyers, as well as Nilgiri and Krivak-class frigates.
The Indian Navy emphasized its preparedness, stating, “Indian Navy Ships undertook successful multiple anti-ship firings to revalidate and demonstrate readiness of platforms, systems, and crew for long-range precision offensive strike. The Indian Navy stands combat-ready, credible, and future-ready in safeguarding the nation’s maritime interests anytime, anywhere, anyhow.”
