Jaya Bachchan, known for her quick temper, made headlines after an incident at Manoj Kumar’s prayer meet on Sunday. The veteran actress became visibly irritated when an elderly fan approached her for a photo, and the moment was captured on video, quickly spreading across social media.
In the video, Jaya Bachchan is seen having a conversation with a group of women. As she engages in the discussion, an elderly woman taps her shoulder, catching her off guard. When Jaya turns around, a man, presumably accompanying the elderly woman, attempts to take a photo with his phone. In response, Jaya Bachchan pushes the woman’s hand aside as she extends it for a handshake and scolds the man for trying to click a picture during such a solemn occasion.
The incident has sparked mixed reactions online. Some users criticized Jaya Bachchan’s response, calling it rude, while others supported her, emphasizing that a prayer meet is not the right place for photographs.
One user commented, “I don’t think she was trying to meet her, but was trying to take a photo with Jaya. A funeral is not the right place for pictures. Jaya could have handled it politely.” Another fan added, “Why would anyone think it’s appropriate to ask for a photo at a funeral?” While some agreed with Jaya, saying, “People trying to click photos at prayer meetings should be kicked out. This time, Jaya is right.”
Manoj Kumar, the legendary actor known for his roles in films such as Shaheed, Upkar, Purab Aur Pachhim, Roti Kapda Aur Makan, and Kranti, passed away early Friday morning due to heart-related complications at a Mumbai hospital.
The prayer meet was attended by a host of celebrities, including Aamir Khan, Asha Parekh, Ramesh Sippy, Rakesh Roshan, Honey Irani, David Dhawan, Johny Lever, Jaaved Jaaferi, Subhash Ghai, Aruna Irani, Ranjit, Shekhar Suman, Ashoke Pandit, Vindu Dara Singh, Mukesh Rishi, Esha Deol, Zayed Khan, Dheeraj Kumar, Poonam Sinha, Sonu Nigam, Udit Narayan, and Anu Malik.
