MBA Graduate Arrested for Allegedly Harassing Woman in Bengaluru’s Ecoworld IT Park
Bengaluru:
A 32-year-old MBA graduate, Sreekanth Kodanda Reddy, was arrested for allegedly harassing a woman late at night in Ecoworld, a prominent IT park in the Marathahalli area of Bengaluru. The incident occurred around 11:30 PM last Wednesday, according to city police.
The accused, who was employed at a private firm, was reportedly riding a two-wheeler when he approached and physically harassed the woman while she was walking through the area. Due to the lack of a visible registration number on the surveillance footage, law enforcement had to scan footage from multiple CCTV cameras to trace and apprehend the suspect.
Recounting the incident in a statement to the woman described being struck forcefully from behind multiple times. “I was perplexed at first, thinking it might have been reckless driving, but it became evident it was intentional,” she said. Despite being in a busy area with several bystanders and security personnel, the woman said no one came to her aid when she called for help.
“The most surprising and disturbing part was the complete lack of response from those around me. I tried to stop auto drivers and pedestrians, but no one intervened,” she added.
Expressing her motivation to speak out, the woman emphasized the importance of challenging the stigma often faced by survivors of harassment and called for stronger public awareness around boundaries and respect.
The incident has sparked renewed concerns about safety in Bengaluru’s tech corridors, particularly during late hours, despite the presence of security infrastructure such as surveillance cameras and guards.
The accused remains in custody, and further investigations are ongoing.
