Shiv Sena: The incident has ignited a heated debate over freedom of expression and political criticism in India.
Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Aaditya Thackeray strongly condemned the recent attack on a comedy show stage, labeling it an act of cowardice.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Thackeray criticized Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s supporters for vandalizing the set where comedian Kunal Kamra had performed a song about Shinde. Thackeray referred to Shinde as “Mindhe”—a Marathi term meaning subservient—mocking his leadership.
“Mindhe’s coward gang breaks the comedy show stage where comedian @kunalkamra88 put out a song on Eknath Mindhe, which was 100% true. Only an insecure coward would react to a song by someone,” Thackeray wrote.
He further questioned the state’s law and order situation, suggesting that the incident was an attempt to undermine the Chief Minister and Home Minister.
“By the way, law and order in the state? Another attempt to undermine the CM and Home Minister by Eknath Mindhe,” he added.
