Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has strongly rejected a recent report claiming the presence of harmful faecal bacteria in the Ganga river. The report, which stirred public concern, suggested that the water quality at key locations, including the Sangam in Prayagraj, was unsafe for religious bathing due to contamination. In response, CM Adityanath defended the purity of the river, asserting that the water at the Sangam, where the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati rivers converge, remains fit for taking a holy dip. He emphasized that the religious and cultural significance of the river outweighs these scientific reports and that the Ganga has been revered as pure for centuries.
