Two Indian Army Soldiers Attain Veergati in Galwan Rockfall Incident

Tragic Loss in Ladakh’s Galwan Valley

In a heartbreaking incident that has left the nation in mourning, Lieutenant Colonel Bhanupratap Singh and Lance Naik Dafadar Daljeet Singh of the Indian Army tragically attained Veergati (martyrdom) after a sudden rockfall struck their Army vehicle in the Galwan Valley region of Ladakh.

The accident occurred while the soldiers were traveling in a Scorpio Army vehicle as part of routine patrol and logistics operations in the harsh and high-altitude terrain. The unexpected rockfall from a steep mountainside left them with no time to react, causing severe damage to the vehicle and fatal injuries to its occupants.

Harsh Terrains and Unforgiving Conditions in Galwan

Galwan Valley, situated in the union territory of Ladakh, is known for its extreme temperatures, rough mountainous terrain, and frequent natural hazards such as landslides and rockfalls. It is one of the most strategically important and sensitive regions along the India-China Line of Actual Control (LAC).

Operating in such conditions demands not just physical endurance but immense mental resilience. The soldiers posted here are often subjected to unpredictable weather, treacherous paths, and natural dangers—yet they continue to serve with unwavering dedication.

Remembering the Bravehearts

Bhanupratap Singh, known for his exemplary leadership and devotion to duty, had a distinguished record of service. Lance Naik Dafadar Daljeet Singh was equally respected by his comrades for his bravery and commitment. Both soldiers represented the finest traditions of the Indian Armed Forces.

Their sudden demise is a solemn reminder of the day-to-day risks our armed forces face, even when not in active combat. The loss is not only a tragedy for their families and regiment but for the entire nation that benefits from their constant vigilance and sacrifice.

Nation Pays Tribute

As news of the incident spread, tributes poured in from citizens, officials, and fellow servicemen across the country. Leaders expressed condolences and acknowledged the immense loss to the Indian Army and the nation.
The mortal remains of both heroes are being sent to their hometowns with full military honors, where last rites will be performed.

The government is expected to provide martyr benefits and financial support to the families as a token of the nation’s gratitude.

A Nation Grateful for Their Sacrifice

Every Indian owes a deep debt of gratitude to Lt. Col. Bhanupratap Singh and Lance Naik Dafadar Daljeet Singh. They died not only in the service of their country but also in the act of safeguarding India’s frontiers under some of the harshest conditions on Earth.

Their legacy will live on in the annals of military history and in the hearts of every Indian who sleeps peacefully, thanks to the courage of soldiers like them.
