US Vice President JD Vance arrived in New Delhi today, accompanied by his wife, Usha Vance, and their three children. The family was welcomed at the Palam Technical Airport by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, where Mr. Vance received a ceremonial guard of honour from India’s tri-services contingent.
Adding a warm and culturally resonant touch to their visit, Mr. Vance’s children arrived dressed in traditional Indian attire. His two sons, Ewan and Vivek, wore kurta pyjamas—Ewan in blue and Vivek in yellow—while the youngest, three-year-old Mirabel, wore a charming anarkali suit. The children made their way off the aircraft one by one, with Mr. Vance embracing each of them as they descended. Mirabel, accompanied by a staff member, was later lifted by her father before the family formally greeted Mr. Vaishnaw on the tarmac.
Mr. Vance is joined by a five-member delegation that includes senior representatives from the Pentagon and the US State Department.
Following his official welcome in Delhi, the Vice President is set to meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. After the meeting, the Vance family will travel to Jaipur and Agra as part of their cultural visit to India.
On Tuesday, Mr. Vance is scheduled to tour Jaipur’s historic Amer Palace before delivering a keynote address at the US-India Business Summit, held at the Rajasthan International Centre. The summit will host senior officials from both nations and focus on strengthening bilateral trade and investment.
The following day, Mr. Vance will head to Agra to visit the iconic Taj Mahal, where he is expected to spend around three hours. Later that afternoon, he will return to Jaipur and visit the City Palace before concluding his trip.
The Vice President and his delegation are scheduled to depart for Washington, D.C., on Thursday.
