Uttarakhand Helicopter Crash: Six Dead, One Injured; CM Orders Probe
Uttarakhand: Six people were killed and one sustained injuries after a helicopter crashed in the Gangani area of Uttarkashi district on Thursday. The helicopter, operated by a private company, was en route from Yamunotri Dham when it plunged into a gorge approximately 200-250 meters deep around 8:50 am.
Manoj Aswal, in charge of Maneri police station, confirmed the fatalities, including the pilot, Captain Robin Singh. The injured passenger has been airlifted to AIIMS Rishikesh for treatment.
“The helicopter, bearing registration number VT-OXF, was carrying seven individuals, including six passengers. Upon receiving the alert, rescue teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and local police promptly initiated search and rescue operations in the rugged terrain,” Aswal stated.
The deceased include four people from Mumbai and two from Andhra Pradesh.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami Orders Investigation
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed his condolences and ordered an investigation into the crash. He has also directed the local administration to provide immediate assistance to the injured and ensure coordinated rescue efforts.
Rescue operations are ongoing, with SDRF personnel, local police, and emergency response teams working at the crash site.
