Vivo X200 Ultra vs Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra: Which Ultra Flagship Should You Choose?

Vivo is set to launch the X200 Ultra in China on April 21, expanding its high-performance X200 lineup. With the standard X200 model already generating significant excitement among smartphone enthusiasts, all eyes are now on the Ultra variant. Meanwhile, Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Ultra, launched in January, continues to hold strong in the flagship segment thanks to its cutting-edge features and camera capabilities. As competition intensifies in the ultra-premium smartphone space, here’s a comprehensive comparison of what the Vivo X200 Ultra is expected to offer versus the Galaxy S25 Ultra.

Design and Display

Recent leaks suggest that the Vivo X200 Ultra will feature a design reminiscent of the X200 Pro, including flat edges, a quad-curved display, and a circular rear camera module. A new hardware button has also been spotted, though its functionality remains undisclosed. A refreshed rear panel texture may further differentiate it from previous models in the X series.

In contrast, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra maintains its hallmark premium design, featuring a titanium and glass build and integrated S Pen support, offering users enhanced productivity and stylus functionality.

Display-wise, both devices aim to deliver immersive viewing experiences:

  • Vivo X200 Ultra (expected): 6.82-inch BOE OLED display, 2K resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and a peak brightness of up to 4500 nits.
  • Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra: 6.9-inch Dynamic LTPO AMOLED display, 2K resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and 2600 nits peak brightness.

Performance and Battery

Under the hood, the Galaxy S25 Ultra is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy (Elite variant), paired with 12GB of RAM, and runs Galaxy AI for intelligent on-device experiences.

The Vivo X200 Ultra is also expected to feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. However, Vivo may introduce higher RAM variants, offering improved multitasking and performance efficiency. Vivo is also expected to integrate advanced AI tools, putting it in close competition with Samsung’s AI offerings.

Battery performance may be a key differentiator:

  • Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra: 5000mAh battery with 45W fast charging. While battery life is solid, charging speed remains conservative.
  • Vivo X200 Ultra (expected): 6000mAh battery with 90W fast charging, potentially offering longer endurance and significantly faster top-ups.

Camera Capabilities

Cameras are a standout feature in both smartphones. The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra has already proven its prowess with a versatile quad-camera system:

  • 200MP main camera (ISOCELL HP2)
  • 50MP ultrawide (ISOCELL JN3)
  • 12MP telephoto (Sony IMX754, 3x optical zoom)
  • 50MP telephoto (Sony IMX854, 5x optical zoom)

On the other hand, the Vivo X200 Ultra is anticipated to debut with an impressive triple-camera setup:

  • 50MP main camera (Sony LYT-818, OIS)
  • 50MP ultrawide camera (Sony LYT-818)
  • 200MP periscope telephoto lens (Samsung HP9 sensor)

While Vivo’s Ultra variant has yet to be tested in real-world scenarios, its camera hardware suggests it may be a formidable challenger to Samsung’s market-leading imaging capabilities.

Final Thoughts

The Vivo X200 Ultra appears to be a highly competitive offering, especially in terms of charging speed, battery capacity, and camera specifications. However, Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Ultra continues to stand strong with its refined software, proven performance, and established camera quality.

Choosing between the two may ultimately come down to individual preferences for design, ecosystem integration, and brand loyalty. As Vivo officially launches the X200 Ultra, real-world reviews and benchmarks will further clarify how it stacks up against Samsung’s flagship.
