In the tragic Air India AI-171 plane crash near Ahmedabad, 241 of the 242 people onboard lost their lives. According to ANI, DNA testing has confirmed the identities of 215 victims. So far, the mortal remains of 198 individuals have been handed over to their families.
Ahmedabad Civil Hospital Superintendent Rakesh Joshi stated on June 20 that DNA matching has been completed for 215 samples.

According to the report, the mortal remains of 183 victims were transported by road in ambulances, while the bodies of the remaining 15 victims were sent by air.
Earlier on Thursday, Ahmedabad Police Commissioner GS Malik informed ANI that 222 victims of the Air India plane crash have been identified. Of these, 214 were identified through DNA analysis, while the remaining eight were identified without the need for DNA matching.

Lone Survivor of Air India Crash Bids Final Farewell to Brother
Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, the sole survivor of the recent Air India crash and a 40-year-old British national, laid his brother Ajay to rest on June 18. Just a week after being discharged from Ahmedabad’s Civil Hospital, Kumar Ramesh traveled to Diu to carry out the final rites. Ajay’s remains, identified through DNA testing, were cremated at a local ground, according to a PTI report.
“Shortly after the crash, I noticed that the plane’s door was broken,” said Vishwash Kumar. “I unbuckled my seatbelt and told myself I had to try to get out. Eventually, I managed to escape through the emergency exit.”
