Actor Ajaz Khan Summoned by Mumbai Police Over Obscene Content in ‘House Arrest’ Web Show
Mumbai:
Actor Ajaz Khan and Vibhu Agarwal, owner of the ULLU streaming platform, have been summoned by Mumbai Police in connection with alleged obscene content in the reality web show House Arrest. The Amboli Police have asked both individuals to appear for questioning following the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) based on a viral video clip from the show.
The controversial clip, now widely circulated online, features contestants—including women—being coerced into enacting sexually explicit positions. Mr. Khan, the host and a former Bigg Boss contestant, is seen pressuring participants to perform these acts and respond to vulgar questions, despite their visible discomfort. The show has since been removed from the ULLU platform.
The FIR, filed after a complaint by a Bajrang Dal activist, invokes sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Information Technology Act, and the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, citing public indecency and inappropriate content.
The National Commission for Women (NCW) also took suo motu cognisance of the incident and issued summons to both Khan and Agarwal. In a public statement on X (formerly Twitter), the Commission condemned the show’s content, stating:
“Viral clips show women being coerced into intimate acts on camera. NCW slams the platform for promoting vulgarity & violating consent.”
Separately, Mr. Khan is also facing a serious legal charge after a 30-year-old woman filed a complaint with Mumbai’s Charkop police, alleging he sexually assaulted her under the pretext of helping her secure acting roles in the film industry. The investigation into both cases is ongoing.
