Kamrup Police Recover Drowned Body, Investigation Underway
Kamrup Superintendent of Police (SP) Ranjan Bhuyan confirmed on Tuesday that a call regarding an incident was received at 4:06 PM. The police immediately responded to the situation, and after a thorough search with the assistance of divers, the body was recovered at approximately 8:30 PM.
The SP noted that the circumstances suggest the case may be related to drowning, though the police are awaiting the postmortem report for further clarity.
Following the recovery, the body was transported to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), where doctors officially confirmed the death and proceeded with the postmortem examination.
The SP mentioned that, at this time, he has not yet spoken with the family members of the deceased. The police are also not aware of any allegations of foul play or murder.

Later in the afternoon, one of his friends reached out to the family, notifying them of a fatal incident involving the actor. The body of Rohit Basfor was then taken to a private hospital, where it was confirmed. The authorities were notified, and an unknown individual alerted the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF). Upon arrival, the SDRF recovered his body from the forest area and transported it to the hospital.

Rohit’s family has accused four individuals, including his close friends, of carrying out a pre-meditated murder attack that led to his tragic death. Adding to the suspicion is Amardeep, a gymnastics center operator, who allegedly invited Rohit to join the outing, raising further doubts regarding his involvement in the incident.
A medical examination conducted at GMCH on Monday revealed extensive injuries on Rohit’s body, particularly on his head, face, and other areas, consistent with the injuries sustained in a brutal attack. These findings have prompted the authorities to intensify their investigation.
Currently, all four suspects are absconding, and police are actively pursuing them in hopes of bringing them to justice. The investigation is ongoing, with the family seeking justice for Rohit’s untimely and tragic death.
