A British woman visiting India has alleged that she was raped by a man she met on Instagram at a hotel in Delhi’s Mahipalpur area. The Delhi Police have arrested the accused, identified as Kailash, while his friend, Wasim, has been booked for inappropriate behavior.
According to police reports, the woman was on a holiday in Maharashtra and Goa when she contacted Kailash, whom she had befriended on social media. Kailash, citing his inability to travel, invited her to Delhi instead. She arrived in the city on Tuesday and checked into a hotel in Mahipalpur, where she later met Kailash and his friend Wasim. She has alleged that she was raped that night.
The following morning, she approached the Vasant Kunj police station and filed a complaint. Based on her statement, the police arrested Kailash and registered a case against Wasim. The British High Commission has been notified, and officials are providing necessary assistance to the woman.
Investigations revealed that Kailash works for a private firm and had difficulty communicating in English, relying on Google Translate during their conversations. Authorities continue to investigate the case, ensuring legal action is taken accordingly.
