Joe Biden, the 46th President of the United States, has been diagnosed with an aggressive type of prostate cancer, according to recent reports. Updates on his condition and treatment plan are expected soon.

Washington, D.C. — Former U.S. President Joe Biden has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer that has metastasized to his bones, according to an official statement released by his office on Sunday. The diagnosis followed a series of medical evaluations prompted by urinary symptoms, during which a prostate nodule was identified. The Biden family is currently consulting with medical professionals to evaluate and determine the most effective treatment options moving forward.
“Although this form of the disease is more aggressive, it remains responsive to hormone therapy, making it manageable with appropriate treatment. The President and his family are currently working closely with his medical team to evaluate and choose the best course of action.
The 82-year-old leader also experienced the loss of his son, Beau Biden, who passed away from cancer in 2015. According to the statement, the Joe President’s cancer was diagnosed with a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5), indicating an aggressive form of the disease.
According to the American Cancer Society, prostate cancer cells that appear highly abnormal are given the most severe grade, Grade 5. When combined into a Gleason Score—which ranges up to 10—this indicates the aggressiveness of the disease, such as in Biden’s case.
“Prostate cancer is the most frequently diagnosed cancer among men in the United States, with the American Cancer Society estimating that one in eight men will face a diagnosis during their lifetime. Although early detection makes it highly treatable, prostate cancer remains the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in men, underscoring the importance of regular screenings and awareness.
“Former U.S. President Donald Trump, who has frequently criticized Joe Biden’s mental sharpness, expressed sympathy upon hearing the news, saying he was ‘saddened’ by the development.
We send our warmest thoughts and best wishes to Jill Biden and the entire Biden family, and we hope for President Biden’s swift and full recovery,” former President Trump shared on Truth Social.
Joe has always been a fighter,” Vice President Kamala Harris said in a post on X, reflecting on her former running mate after stepping in as the Democratic nominee following Biden’s withdrawal from last year’s presidential race.
I am confident he will confront this challenge with the same strength, resilience, and optimism that have always characterized his life and leadership. We remain hopeful for a complete and swift recovery,” she added.
Former President Barack Obama shared his wishes for Biden’s speedy recovery in a post on X. “Michelle and I are keeping the entire Biden family in our thoughts. Joe has been a relentless advocate for breakthrough cancer treatments across all types, and I have no doubt he will face this challenge with his usual determination and grace. We pray for a quick and complete recovery,” he wrote.
Biden was compelled to withdraw from his reelection campaign last July following a poor debate performance against Trump, which sparked concerns about his health and mental sharpness. This led to growing support for Harris, who took on a more prominent role, but she ultimately lost to Trump.

Old Comment Resurfaces
Following his recent diagnosis, an old comment Biden made in 2022 about having cancer resurfaced on Sunday. At that time, while speaking at a former coal-fired power plant in Massachusetts, Biden stated that he had cancer…
And guess what? When the first frost hit, you could literally see what was happening. You had to turn on your windshield wipers just to clear the oil slick off the window. That’s exactly why so many of us who grew up there have cancer. For the longest time, Delaware actually had the highest cancer rate in the nation.
The comment initially sparked concerns, but the White House later clarified that the then-President was referring to a skin cancer that had been removed prior to his presidency.
