Modi: Operation Sindoor focused on key areas, including Bahawalpur, a known stronghold of the Jaish-e-Mohammad terror group. This operation highlights the ongoing efforts to disrupt and dismantle the operations of such terrorist organizations that pose a threat to regional stability and security. Bahawalpur, with its strategic importance for the outfit, has been under scrutiny as part of this comprehensive crackdown. Authorities have intensified their actions to ensure a decisive response to the growing menace of terrorism.
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been closely overseeing Operation Sindoor, a military operation in which the Indian Armed Forces conducted missile strikes on nine terror targets across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir early Wednesday. These strikes were carried out in retaliation for the recent Pahalgam massacre, which claimed the lives of 26 individuals.
According to sources, the targeted locations included Bahawalpur, a known stronghold of the Jaish-e-Mohammad terror group. The operation reflects India’s firm stance against terrorism and its commitment to securing justice for the victims of the heinous attack.
The Ministry of Defence has confirmed the successful strike on nine high-priority terror targets, including the headquarters of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) in Bahawalpur and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) in Muridke. These strikes were part of a broader strategy to dismantle terrorist networks operating across the region.
Government sources revealed that the Prime Minister was closely involved in overseeing the operation, monitoring real-time developments from New Delhi. He received continuous updates from the Chief of Defence Staff, senior intelligence officials, and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. Throughout the operation, multiple rounds of communication were held between the Prime Minister and the top brass of the Army, Navy, and Air Force, starting late Tuesday evening and continuing through the early hours of Wednesday. The operation reflects a coordinated effort by India’s military leadership to address security threats posed by these terror outfits.
Sources have confirmed that Operation Sindoor was carefully conceived and planned after a detailed intelligence assessment. According to the Ministry of Defence, a statement issued at 1:44 am outlined the nature of the strikes, describing them as “focused, measured, and non-escalatory.”
The Ministry emphasized that Indian military assets had not targeted any Pakistani military installations during the operation. Instead, the strikes were specifically aimed at critical infrastructure believed to be used for planning and executing cross-border terrorist operations.
India carried out missile strikes on multiple locations across Pakistan’s Punjab province and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). According to officials, the targets included five locations in Punjab – namely Bahawalpur and Muridke – and four areas in PoK, including Kotli, Muzaffarabad, and Bagh.
The strikes come as a response to ongoing security concerns related to cross-border terrorism. In the aftermath, India initiated a diplomatic outreach to its key global partners. Senior Indian officials engaged in discussions with their counterparts in the United States, the United Kingdom, Russia, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates, briefing them about the operation and its objectives.
The Defence Ministry reiterated that the military action aligns with India’s longstanding commitment to holding the perpetrators of cross-border terrorism accountable. This operation underscores India’s determination to take necessary measures in safeguarding national security and upholding its stance on combating terrorism.
Modi: India Carries Out Missile Strikes Across Pakistan’s Punjab and PoK in Response to Cross-Border Terrorism
India’s counter-terrorism strategy, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had previously granted the armed forces full operational freedom to determine the response to the recent terror attack in Pahalgam. Acting on this mandate, Indian defence forces launched a coordinated operation, closely planned with the top military leadership.
Air defence units along the border have been placed on high alert, ensuring preparedness for any further escalation. Following the successful execution of the operation, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh took to social media platform X to post a patriotic message: “Bharat Mata Ki Jai.” Meanwhile, the Indian Army released a brief but impactful statement, declaring: “Justice is served.”
