Dharavi Truck Fire: What Caused the Explosion on LPG-Loaded Lorry on Sion-Dharavi Link Road? VIDEO
Mumbai: A massive fire broke down in a truck carrying gas cylinders at Nature Park, PNGP Colony on Sion-Dharavi Link Road, Dharavi, in Mumbai. The incident happened on Monday as the fire tenders reached the spot to control the fire. As of now, no casualties have been reported.
MLA from the Dharavi assembly constituency, Jyoti Gaikwad said that the incident happened due to a car which caught fire. A truck with LPG gas cylinders was standing beside it, which also caused the fire and later caused a blast. Gaikwad added that the incident took place due to parking in the no-parking zone, and there has been no loss of life.
A major fire broke out near Dharavi Bus Depot on the Sion-Dharavi Link Road after multiple gas cylinder explosions from an illegally parked truck. This is a densely populated area, and the incident has triggered immense panic among residents. My team and I are at the site, where fire brigade operations are in full swing. While no injuries have been reported so far, several parked vehicles have been damaged.
But I ask the Traffic Department,
mybmc, and the government—why are trucks carrying highly combustible cylinders allowed to park illegally in such a congested locality?

Is the safety of citizens not paramount?
Why are buses and trucks from outside being allowed to park here unchecked?
Why is there zero enforcement of traffic rules? Where is the accountability? While our immediate priority is to douse the fire, I demand a full inquiry into this incident and strict action against all officials who failed to prevent illegal parking. This negligence could have cost lives—there must be consequences.
Dharavi Truck Fire: What Happened?
“The incident that has just happened here is that a car caught fire. The big truck next to it also caught fire. There were many cylinders. The cylinders caught fire and exploded, causing the surrounding area to catch fire. The fire brigade has arrived, and all the evacuation work is going on. We think that all this happened due to parking in a no-parking zone. Fortunately, there is no loss of life here.
