A brave Indian Army soldier was martyred while valiantly preventing an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir. The incident occurred in the early hours of Friday as alert troops engaged a group of terrorists attempting to cross into Indian territory under the cover of darkness.

According to defence sources, the attempted infiltration took place in a forward area of the Kupwara district. Acting swiftly on intelligence inputs, army units launched a coordinated operation to intercept the infiltrators. A fierce exchange of gunfire ensued, during which one soldier sustained critical injuries and later succumbed.

The army confirmed that the infiltration bid was successfully foiled. “Our troops displayed exceptional courage and professionalism.
One soldier made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, and his contribution will always be remembered with pride and gratitude,” a defence spokesperson said.
The identity of the martyred soldier is being withheld until the family is officially informed. Meanwhile, a massive search operation is underway in the region to ensure that no infiltrator managed to breach the security perimeter.
This incident highlights the continued threat posed by cross-border terrorism and the unwavering commitment of Indian armed forces to securing the nation’s borders. Senior army officials and local authorities have expressed condolences to the bereaved family and reaffirmed their resolve to maintain strict vigilance along the LoC.
