IAF Chief meets PM Modi: Sources indicate that Indian forces have undertaken troop redeployments and heightened weapon readiness to effectively counter any potential preemptive or retaliatory actions by Pakistan across multiple domains.

Indian Air Force Chief, Air Chief Marshal A P Singh, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday to brief him on the IAF’s operational readiness amid discussions on possible retaliatory measures following the Pahalgam terror attack.
Although no official statement was released about the meeting, Air Chief Marshal Singh is believed to have discussed the prevailing security situation and potential options with the Prime Minister.
The meeting between the IAF Chief and the Prime Minister at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg came just hours after Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi had a similar conversation with the Prime Minister regarding developments in the northern Arabian Sea.
“Amid ongoing naval drills in the Arabian Sea, all operational frontline warships of the Western Fleet, along with maritime patrol aircraft and fleet support vessels, have been deployed at sea.”
Defence sources stated that the Navy is fully prepared to respond immediately once executive orders are issued.
“As the Defence Minister, it is my foremost responsibility to safeguard the nation’s borders and stand firmly alongside our brave soldiers,” said Rajnath Singh at the Sanatan Sanskriti Jagran Mahotsav in New Delhi. “It is my duty to ensure that anyone who dares to threaten the sovereignty of our country receives a strong and decisive response.

“You all are well aware of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s work ethic, his unwavering determination, and the bold decisions he has taken throughout his life. I want to assure you that under his dynamic leadership, your aspirations will be fulfilled — what you envision, will indeed become reality.
Following a high-level meeting of senior military officials at the Prime Minister’s residence on April 29, the Chiefs of the IAF Indian Air Force and Navy held separate one-on-one discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During the earlier meeting, the Prime Minister emphasized that the armed forces have “complete operational freedom” to determine the method, targets, and timing of their response to the recent terror attack in Pahalgam.
Expressing unwavering trust in the capabilities of the armed forces, Modi reaffirmed that the nation stands firmly behind them. He stated that it is “our national resolve to deliver a decisive blow to terrorism.
The meeting was attended by Defence Minister Singh, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, Air Chief Marshal Singh of the IAF, and Navy Chief Admiral Tripathi.
According to officials, the separate discussions between the Prime Minister and the service chiefs provided an opportunity for open and candid exchanges of perspectives.
An official informed The Indian Express that such meetings offer a platform to discuss key objectives and targets, address emergency needs, identify potential service-specific challenges, and set realistic timelines.
As a result of these developments, Pakistan has put its troops on high alert along the Line of Control. Sources indicated that approximately 30 percent of the troops from its frontline units would remain stationed at forward posts. Additionally, the Pakistan Army has made preparations by deploying detachments of heavy weaponry, strengthening its air defenses, and reinforcing troop positions in recent days.
