Meerut Murder Case: Accused Muskan Rastogi Found Pregnant During Routine Jail Health Check
Meerut:
Muskan Rastogi, one of the prime accused in the brutal murder of former Merchant Navy officer Saurabh Rajput, has been found pregnant during a routine medical check-up at the district jail, officials confirmed on Monday.
Chief Medical Officer Dr. Ashok Kataria stated that Rastogi underwent a preliminary pregnancy test, which returned a positive result. He added that an ultrasound will be conducted to assess the condition and duration of the pregnancy.
Senior Jail Superintendent Viresh Raj Sharma explained that all female inmates are subject to routine health and pregnancy screenings upon admission. Rastogi’s case was part of this standard medical protocol. While a written medical report is still awaited, jail authorities have been verbally informed of her pregnancy status.
Background of the Case
The case involves the murder of Saurabh Rajput on the night of March 4 at his residence in Indiranagar, Meerut. Muskan Rastogi and her alleged partner, Sahil Shukla, are accused of drugging Rajput and subsequently stabbing him to death.
According to investigators, the accused dismembered the body—severing the head and hands—and concealed the remains in a blue drum filled with cement in an attempt to cover up the crime.
The investigation further revealed that the murder may have been premeditated, with planning allegedly beginning as early as November 2023. Muskan reportedly manipulated Sahil into committing the crime by impersonating his deceased mother via a fake Snapchat account.
The post-mortem report confirmed severe mutilation. The victim’s head and hands were severed, and his legs were forcibly bent backward to fit the body into the drum. The cause of death was attributed to shock and excessive blood loss.
Custody and Jail Status
Both Muskan Rastogi and Sahil Shukla remain in judicial custody. Muskan has been assigned sewing duties inside the jail, while Sahil is engaged in agricultural work. They are also participating in a rehabilitation programme supported by a local drug de-addiction center.
