Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah, emphasized the importance of sustaining the progress made in Jammu and Kashmir following the abrogation of Article 370. Speaking at a high-level security review meeting in Srinagar on Tuesday, Shah urged all security agencies to continue their coordinated efforts to ensure that the positive changes achieved in the region are maintained, with the ultimate goal of a terror-free Jammu and Kashmir.
During the meeting, Shah praised the work of security agencies for significantly reducing terror-related incidents, infiltration, and the recruitment of youth into terrorist organizations. He reiterated the government’s strong stance against terrorism, affirming the zero-tolerance policy in place under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“Under PM Modi’s leadership, the Government of India remains committed to bringing lasting peace to Jammu and Kashmir and completely eradicating terrorism,” Shah stated.
The Home Minister acknowledged the success of sustained, coordinated efforts that had severely disrupted the terror infrastructure in the region, which had previously been supported by hostile elements. He directed security agencies to maintain a united front and continue their work to fully eliminate terrorism from Jammu and Kashmir.
Shah also highlighted the government’s commitment to providing all necessary resources to achieve this goal. He stressed the need for the implementation of the Area Domination Plan and Zero Terror Plan in a mission mode, ensuring these initiatives are executed without delay.
Additionally, Shah reviewed the preparations for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra, scheduled to take place from July 3 to August 9 this year. He instructed the relevant agencies to take all necessary steps to ensure the yatra is conducted peacefully and securely.
The meeting was attended by several key officials, including Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Director of the Intelligence Bureau Tapan Deka, Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi, GOC-in-C Northern Command Lt Gen M V Suchindra Kumar, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, and Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat. Heads of Central Armed Police Forces, including Gyanendra Pratap Singh of CRPF, Rajwinder Singh Bhati of CISF, Daljit Singh Chaudhary of BSF, and B Srinivasan of NSG, were also present at the meeting.
