The FIR was lodged based on complaints by a Zirakpur-based woman, who accused Pathanmajra of deceiving her by posing as divorced, entering into a relationship in 2013, marrying in 2021 while still legally married, and later resorting to sexual exploitation, threats, and sending obscene material.

As the MLA was being taken to a local police station, Pathanmajra, along with his aides, allegedly opened fire on police personnel. During the chaos, he reportedly attempted to run over a policeman. He then escaped the scene in a Scorpio SUV, while a Fortuner used in the incident was later seized by authorities. He had initially been arrested at the residence of a relative, Gurnam Singh Laadi (an HSGMC member) in Dabri village, but fled with apparent assistance from local supporters.

After the FIR, Pathanmajra addressed supporters via Facebook Live, denouncing the case as politically motivated and calling upon fellow AAP lawmakers to resist pressure from the Delhi leadership. “They can lodge FIRs against me, I can stay in jail, but my voice cannot be suppressed,” he declared.
