Mumbai, March 11: A shocking incident took place on Tuesday night (March 11) when an empty alcohol bottle was thrown into the ladies’ compartment of a moving train, causing panic among passengers. The incident happened on the 8:30 PM Titwala local after it passed Masjid station and was heading towards Sandhurst Road. A female journalist from FPJ witnessed the incident.
18-Year-Old Girl Injured by Flying Bottle on Train
An 18-year-old girl, Amina Khan, was hit by a piece of a bottle while traveling on a train. The bottle was allegedly thrown from another train moving in the opposite direction. It first struck a fan, causing the glass to shatter and scatter across the compartment. Luckily, Amina, who was wearing a burqa, did not suffer serious injuries. The train from which the bottle was thrown was heading toward CSMT.
Passenger Raises Concern, Police Ignore

29-year-old passenger Pranavi Billa picked up the broken bottle and informed the female police constables onboard, but they did not respond or take any action.

Passengers are now demanding stricter security and action against such reckless behavior to ensure women’s safety on trains. The police need to be more alert and respond quickly to complaints. Fortunately, the bottle didn’t hit any female passenger directly, but it could have been dangerous.

A 22-year-old female journalist from FPJ shared her experience, saying, “I was in the ladies’ compartment when, suddenly, a large alcohol bottle was thrown inside. Everyone was shocked and scared. What was even more troubling was that two female constables were present but did nothing to help. This incident highlights how, despite safety measures, women are still vulnerable in local trains. Such situations can put innocent lives at risk.
After a while, a man gets on the train and talks to the girl who was hit by the bottle, asking about her injury. After getting the details, he leaves, but no action is taken regarding the incident.
