Rajasthan Royals’ 14-year-old prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who stunned cricket fans with a record-breaking century during the IPL 2025 match against Gujarat Titans, has attributed his early success to the sacrifices made by his parents.
In the match played on Monday, Rajasthan chased down a daunting target of 210 runs, with Suryavanshi leading the charge. His explosive knock, which saw him score 101 off just 38 deliveries, helped him register the fastest century by an Indian in IPL history, reaching the landmark in just 35 balls.
Speaking in a video shared by the IPL on social media platform X, Suryavanshi opened up about the crucial role his family played in his cricketing journey. “Whatever I am today is because of my parents,” he said. “My mother used to wake up early every day to prepare food for me before practice and would often sleep only three hours. My father left his work to support my cricket career, with my elder brother now managing it. Their struggles and support made this achievement possible.”
Suryavanshi’s innings began in spectacular fashion, launching a towering 90-meter six off Mohammed Siraj in the opening over. He continued to dominate the Gujarat Titans bowlers, taking on Rashid Khan and dismantling their attack with a fearless approach rarely seen at such a young age.
Despite a searing yorker from Prasidh Krishna ending his innings, the foundation he had laid was more than enough to guide Rajasthan Royals to an emphatic 8-wicket victory. The Gujarat Titans were left searching for answers as the 14-year-old’s fearless batting captured the imagination of cricket fans across the country.
Former cricketers and analysts have praised not just Suryavanshi’s technique but also his mindset, noting the maturity he displayed under pressure. Many have highlighted that his journey is a reflection of countless young athletes whose successes are built on years of sacrifice and perseverance by their families.
Suryavanshi’s remarkable achievement has made him a name to watch in the future of Indian cricket, with many hailing him as the next big star in the making.
