Islamabad: Baloch rebel groups have claimed responsibility for executing 214 Pakistani military personnel allegedly held as hostages. The insurgents blamed the Pakistani government’s “stubbornness” for the deadly escalation, stating that the administration’s refusal to engage in meaningful dialogue led to the tragic outcome.

According to a statement released by the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) and other affiliated insurgent factions, the hostages had been held for several weeks following a series of attacks on Pakistani security forces. The rebels allege that repeated warnings were given to the authorities, demanding political concessions and greater autonomy for the Baloch people. However, they claim that their calls went unheard, forcing them to take extreme measures.

Pakistani officials have neither confirmed nor denied the rebels’ claims, but security sources suggest that an investigation is underway. Reports indicate that clashes between the Pakistani military and Baloch separatist groups have intensified in recent months, with both sides suffering heavy casualties.Baloch Rebels

The Baloch insurgency, which has been ongoing for decades, stems from grievances over political marginalization, economic exploitation, and human rights abuses in Balochistan, Pakistan’s largest but least developed province. Various armed groups, including the BLA,

have been fighting for either greater autonomy or complete independence from Pakistan.Baloch Rebels

Human rights organizations have frequently accused the Pakistani military of carrying out enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, and harsh crackdowns on dissent in the region. Conversely, the Pakistani government considers the Baloch rebels as terrorists, blaming them for targeting security forces, infrastructure, and civilians.

International observers have expressed concern over the escalating violence, warning that continued hostilities could further destabilize the region. Calls for a peaceful resolution through dialogue have been reiterated, but with both sides refusing to back down, the conflict appears far from over.Baloch Rebels

As tensions continue to rise, the fate of those still in rebel custody remains uncertain, while fears of further bloodshed loom over an already volatile region.
