More than two decades after the tragic death of actress Soundarya in a plane crash, a shocking allegation has emerged against veteran Telugu actor Mohan Babu. A complaint filed in Andhra Pradesh’s Khammam district claims that Soundarya’s death was not an accident but a murder linked to a property dispute involving Mohan Babu.
The complainant, identified as Chittimallu, has accused Mohan Babu of pressuring Soundarya and her brother to sell six acres of land in Shamshabad. According to him, the siblings firmly refused, leading to escalating tensions between them and Mohan Babu. He further alleged that after Soundarya’s death, Mohan Babu forcefully took possession of the land.
While no FIR has been registered in the case yet, the complaint has raised serious questions about the circumstances surrounding Soundarya’s death. It remains unclear how Chittimallu is connected to either actor, but he has urged authorities to launch a fresh investigation into Mohan Babu’s alleged role in the land dispute.
Soundarya, a celebrated Kannada actress, gained nationwide fame for her role as Radha in the 1999 Bollywood classic Sooryavansham alongside Amitabh Bachchan. On April 17, 2004, she and her brother tragically lost their lives when their private jet crashed while en route to Karimnagar for a political event. She was just 31 years old and reportedly pregnant at the time. Her body was never recovered from the crash site, adding to the mystery surrounding her untimely demise.
In his complaint, Chittimallu has also drawn attention to the long-standing family dispute between Mohan Babu and his younger son, Manchu Manoj. The feud escalated last year when Mohan Babu allegedly attacked a journalist at his residence. However, his elder son, Manchu Vishnu, dismissed the controversy as a private family matter that would be resolved internally.
The complainant has now urged the Andhra Pradesh government to seize the disputed land and take action against Mohan Babu. He has also sought police protection, claiming he has received threats over the allegations.
With these new claims surfacing, all eyes are on the authorities to determine whether they will reopen an investigation into one of Tollywood’s most controversial cases.
