A drunk passenger urinated on a fellow passenger aboard an Air India flight from Delhi to Bangkok today, sources revealed. While the airline confirmed an incident involving unruly passenger behavior, it did not provide specific details regarding the nature of the incident.
According to sources, the passenger aboard flight AI 2336 was intoxicated and urinated on the managing director of a company. The matter has been reported to the relevant authorities, and Air India extended an offer to assist the “aggrieved passenger” in Bangkok. However, the passenger declined the offer to take up the matter with local authorities after landing.
In response to the incident, Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu told news agency ANI that the ministry would address the situation. “Whenever such incidents occur, the ministry takes note and will speak to the airline. If there is any wrongdoing, necessary action will be taken,” he said.
Air India, in its statement, assured that the crew followed all established procedures. “In addition to warning the unruly passenger, our crew offered assistance to the aggrieved passenger to raise the issue with authorities in Bangkok, which was declined at the time. An independent committee will be convened to assess the incident and determine what actions, if any, will be taken against the unruly passenger,” the airline added. The statement also mentioned that Air India adheres to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) set by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) in such cases.
This incident is one of several reported in recent years involving passengers urinating on fellow travelers after consuming alcohol. Notably, an Indian student, Arya Vohra, was banned by American Airlines after allegedly urinating on a co-passenger during a flight in March 2023. In another case, a drunk passenger urinated on an elderly woman in the business class of an Air India flight in November 2024.
