Hemraj Meena was one of the 40 Indian security personnel who lost their lives in the devastating terrorist attack in Pulwama. Since then, a bond has formed between Birla and Madhubala, with her tying a Rakhi to him every year on Rakshabandhan.
The wedding celebration in Kota marked the fulfillment of Birla’s emotional pledge, reflecting his unwavering support for the family of the martyr, showcasing the power of compassion and commitment to those who sacrifice for the nation.

On the auspicious occasion of the marriage of Reena, daughter of the brave martyr Hemraj Meena Ji and sister of the courageous Veerangana Madhubala Ji, I had the privilege of performing the Mayra ceremony in the Sangod (Kota) parliamentary constituency. Birla took responsibility for Meena’s six children
The Pulwama attack deeply affected the family of martyr Hemraj, leaving them in a state of profound sorrow. However, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla’s timely and unwavering support has been a beacon of hope and comfort for them during these difficult times. Forming a strong bond with Veerangana Madhubala, the widow of Hemraj, Om Birla made a promise to stand by the family through both their joys and sorrows.
Over the past six years, Om Birla has kept that promise, strengthening his connection with the family. Every Rakhi and Bhai Dooj, Veerangana Madhubala has tied Rakhi on his wrist and performed tilak, an enduring symbol of their close bond. More recently, when the time came for the marriage of Madhubala’s daughter, Rina Meena, on 14th April, Om Birla once again showed his steadfast support, standing by the family with love and care.
The martyr’s family has expressed their gratitude for Birla’s continued presence in their lives. His consistent support has not only provided emotional comfort but has also helped meet their practical needs. He has taken an active role in ensuring the well-being of Madhubala’s six children—four sons and two daughters—by assisting with their education and other vital needs.
Om Birla’s involvement in the lives of the family of martyr Hemraj has been a testament to his dedication and compassion. His actions over the years have shown that he is not just a politician, but a person who honors his commitments and truly cares for the people he serves.
