Pipariya (Narmadapuram), Madhya Pradesh – April 2025:
A shocking incident has come to light from Bhagat Singh Government College in Pipariya, located in Madhya Pradesh’s Narmadapuram district, where a peon was caught evaluating student answer sheets—an act strictly reserved for qualified teaching staff.
The revelation emerged after a video of the peon, seated among answer sheets and engaged in checking them, went viral on social media. The footage drew widespread criticism and raised serious concerns over the integrity and administration of the state’s higher education system.
Following the viral clip, the Madhya Pradesh Higher Education Department initiated an official inquiry into the matter. Authorities confirmed that the individual seen in the video is not a teacher but a Grade IV employee (peon) who has no academic qualification or authority to evaluate exam papers.
“We have taken the matter seriously. Such incidents tarnish the credibility of the examination process. A committee has been formed to investigate how such negligence occurred and who is responsible,” a senior official from the Higher Education Department stated.Peon
Local sources suggest that the incident may not be an isolated case and could point to deeper administrative failures at the college level. Students and parents have expressed outrage, demanding accountability and immediate corrective action.
Education experts say that this incident reflects the larger issues plaguing the state’s education system—ranging from staff shortages to inadequate supervision and lack of transparency.
As the investigation continues, the state government has assured that strict action will be taken against those found guilty, including college authorities who may have allowed or ignored such a blatant breach of protocol.
The incident has reignited the debate about the quality and oversight of public education institutions in Madhya Pradesh, and many are calling for reforms to ensure such lapses are not repeated in the future.
