Prime Minister Narendra Modi reinforced India’s firm stance against terrorism during a high-profile visit to the Adampur airbase in Punjab, following the conclusion of Operation Sindoor. The visit, which served as a symbolic display of India’s military strength, also underscored the country’s decisive response to acts of terrorism.

Addressing the armed forces against the backdrop of the formidable S-400 missile launcher, Modi commended the military’s precision and coordination in executing Operation Sindoor, which targeted multiple terror bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The Prime Minister emphasized that India’s red line against terrorism is now unequivocally defined, declaring that any attack on the nation will provoke a decisive and destructive response.

“India’s Lakshman Rekha against terrorism is now crystal clear. India will respond strongly if hit by a terror attack, at a time and place of our choosing,” Modi said during his 30-minute address at the airbase. His visit to Adampur came after Pakistan’s extensive disinformation campaign falsely claimed successful strikes on several Indian military installations, including Adampur.

Images released from the airbase featured Modi standing before the S-400 launcher, a potent symbol of India’s air defence capabilities. Another photograph captured the Prime Minister interacting with air force personnel in front of a fully operational MiG-29 fighter jet, effectively debunking Pakistan’s narrative of having neutralized Indian air assets.

Operation Sindoor, a four-day military offensive launched on May 7, targeted nine terror launchpads across Pakistan and PoK. According to Modi, over 100 terrorists were neutralized in precision strikes that underscored New Delhi’s policy of striking back hard against those sponsoring or harboring terrorists.

“Our armed forces have delivered a resounding message to Pakistan: If you dare to strike at India, you will face severe consequences,” Modi asserted. He praised the operational synergy exhibited by the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force, referring to it as a demonstration of ‘jointness’ in combat readiness.

The Adampur airbase, located 25 km from Jalandhar, was among the sites that Pakistan falsely claimed to have targeted. Contrary to Pakistan’s claims of having struck S-400 missile systems and runways, Adampur remains fully operational, with no signs of damage to military infrastructure.

Highlighting the significance of modern air defence systems, Modi lauded the operational capabilities of the S-400 system as well as indigenous assets like the Akash surface-to-air missile system. “India’s air defence shield is a formidable deterrent, and we are equipped to counter any aerial threats effectively,” he said.

The Prime Minister’s address also reflected India’s evolving military doctrine under his leadership. Modi articulated a three-point strategy: a firm and fierce response to every terror attack, zero tolerance for nuclear blackmail, and the refusal to differentiate between states that sponsor terror and the terrorists themselves.

Operation Sindoor was launched in response to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, which left 26 civilians dead, including 24 Hindu tourists. Modi condemned Pakistan’s continued support for cross-border terrorism and accused Islamabad of using civilian aircraft as shields for its drone and missile strikes.

Despite extensive provocations from Pakistan, including drone attacks targeting military and civilian areas across Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, and Gujarat, India maintained a calculated and proportionate response, striking only identified terror bases while minimizing collateral damage.

Military officials provided further details of Operation Sindoor during a special briefing. The Indian Air Force executed precision strikes on key military installations in Rafiqui, Murid, Chaklala, Rahim Yar Khan, Sukkur, Chunian, Pasrur, and Sialkot, successfully neutralizing several terror infrastructure sites.

India’s military readiness, Modi emphasized, has significantly advanced over the past decade, backed by consistent budgetary allocations for acquiring cutting-edge technology. “Our armed forces are equipped to defend every inch of Indian territory, and our response will be fierce and definitive,” he stated.

As the Prime Minister departed Adampur, his message remained clear: India’s resolve against terrorism is unyielding, and its armed forces are more than prepared to counter any threats to national security.
