During his address to a large public gathering, the Prime Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for 44 projects collectively valued at over ₹3,880 crore. These initiatives span multiple sectors and aim to further boost infrastructure, connectivity, and public services in the region.

According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), a key highlight of the visit will be the inauguration and foundation-laying of several road development initiatives aimed at improving urban mobility and easing traffic congestion across the city.
Among the projects, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for a new road bridge connecting the Varanasi Ring Road to Sarnath, a move expected to improve connectivity to this historic and religiously significant town. In addition, flyovers at Bhikharipur and Manduadih crossings are planned to decongest major city intersections and streamline traffic flow.
Another major infrastructure undertaking includes the construction of a highway underpass and road tunnel on National Highway 31, near the Varanasi International Airport. This project, alone worth over ₹980 crore, will enhance accessibility to the airport and contribute to the overall development of the region’s transport infrastructure.
These initiatives reflect the Prime Minister’s vision of modernizing Varanasi with world-class infrastructure, while simultaneously preserving its cultural heritage. The projects are expected to significantly benefit local residents, ease travel, and further promote tourism in the holy city.

These included a road bridge connecting the Varanasi Ring Road to Sarnath, flyovers at Bhikharipur and Manduadih crossings, and a highway underpass road tunnel on NH-31 near Varanasi International Airport. These road-related projects alone are worth more than ₹980 crore.
Significant upgrades to the power infrastructure were also announced. The Prime Minister inaugurated two 400 KV and one 220 KV transmission substations, along with associated transmission lines across Jaunpur, Chandauli, and Ghazipur districts in the Varanasi division. These are valued at over ₹1,045 crore. Additionally, he laid the foundation stone for a 220 KV substation at Chaukaghat in Varanasi, a 132 KV substation in Ghazipur, and the expansion of the Varanasi city electricity distribution network, with investments totaling ₹775 crore.
For the benefit of security personnel, Mr. Modi inaugurated a Transit Hostel at the Police Line and new barracks at the PAC Ramnagar Campus. He also laid foundation stones for new administrative buildings at various police stations and a residential hostel for police personnel.
Another key highlight of the visit was the inauguration of redevelopment work at the city’s iconic ghats. The revitalization of Samne Ghat and Shastri Ghat along the Ganga River forms part of a broader beautification initiative. Additional works include the enhancement of six municipal wards in Varanasi and the installation of landscaping and sculptures at various sites across the city.
This series of developmental announcements reflects the government’s ongoing efforts to transform Varanasi through investments in infrastructure, public amenities, and urban revitalization.
