Indore businessman Raja Raghuwanshi’s family performed his pind daan in Ujjain following his tragic murder during a honeymoon trip to Meghalaya with his wife, Sonam.

The family of Indore-based businessman Raja Raghuwanshi performed his pind daan in Ujjain on Friday, following his tragic murder during a honeymoon trip to Meghalaya with his wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi—a case that has drawn nationwide attention.
Among those present was Sonam Raghuwanshi’s brother, Govind, who stated that he had no knowledge of his sister’s relationship with Raj prior to their marriage. “
If I had known earlier, I would have either arranged their marriage myself or allowed her to elope with Raj Kushwaha,” Govind told Live Localtak.
Raja and Sonam were married on May 11. Merely ten days later, the couple traveled to Shillong, where Raja was reportedly murdered. The Meghalaya Police have since arrested Sonam, her alleged lover Raj, and several of his associates, suspecting them of orchestrating a premeditated plot to kill Raja.
Speaking alongside Raja’s family, Govind expressed his deep bond with them, saying, “I have come with Raja’s family to perform his last rites… they are like my own family.” When asked about Sonam, he stated firmly, “If she is found guilty, she should be given the death penalty.”
Govind described his sister as “strong-willed and quick-tempered,” emphasizing that there had never been any pressure from their family regarding the marriage. “If she didn’t want to go through with it, she could have simply said so,” he stated, according to Live Hindustan. “What she did is beyond forgiveness. Her actions have brought disgrace not just to Indore, but to the entire state of Madhya Pradesh.”
Raja’s brother, Vipin, confirmed that Govind had reached out to attend the wedding ceremony. “We told him he was welcome to come. After all, the fault lay with his sister,” he said.

Meghalaya Murder Mystery: Sonam’s Past Ties to Raj Key to Plot
The investigation into the mysterious disappearance of Raja Raghuwanshi, which began on May 23 in Meghalaya’s East Khasi Hills, has taken a dramatic turn. Authorities have identified his wife, Sonam, as a prime suspect in what appears to be a premeditated murder plot.
Officials say Sonam’s past relationship with Raj Kushwaha played a significant role in the planning of the crime. Four others have been arrested in connection with the case: Raj Kushwaha, Vishal Chauhan, Anand Kurmi, and Akash Rajput. After an extensive search, Sonam and her alleged accomplices were finally traced and apprehended in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh.
Raja’s body was found on June 2 in a gorge near Weisawdong Falls. Initially, Sonam was believed to be missing, but she reappeared on June 9 at a roadside eatery in Ghazipur, where she surrendered to the police.
