New Delhi, April 5, 2025 — In a sharp political move, BJP leader Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga launched a poster campaign across Delhi targeting Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over alleged deforestation in Telangana. The posters, plastered in various parts of the national capital, carried a bold message: “Stop Cutting Telangana Jungles”, accusing the Congress-led state government of destroying green cover for development projects.
Bagga, known for his aggressive and often controversial style of political activism, claimed that large-scale deforestation has taken place under the Congress administration in Telangana, particularly in regions being developed for commercial and infrastructure purposes. He further alleged that Rahul Gandhi, despite his frequent statements on climate change and environmental protection, has remained silent on the matter.
“Rahul Gandhi talks about saving the environment, but under his party’s watch in Telangana, forests are being destroyed. Is this the model of sustainable development Congress is offering?” Bagga said in a statement to the press on Friday. BJP
The posters feature a stern image of Rahul Gandhi alongside slogans accusing him of hypocrisy on environmental issues. Some also depict images of felled trees and disturbed wildlife habitats, aimed at evoking public concern.
Congress leaders have yet to issue an official response, but sources within the party dismissed the campaign as a political stunt, accusing the BJP of spreading misinformation ahead of the upcoming elections.
Environmental activists, meanwhile, have called for a fact-based investigation into any deforestation claims rather than politicizing ecological concerns. BJP
The poster campaign adds to the already charged political atmosphere as parties gear up for a series of key elections. With environmental issues increasingly becoming part of the political narrative, both national and regional parties are under pressure to clarify their stands and records on climate and conservation.
