On the eve of the anticipated exercise, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta assured that the national capital is “completely prepared.” She emphasized, “All activities are being carried out in accordance with the guidelines provided by the Centre.”
The upcoming drill in New Delhi will cover several key locations across the city. In Central Delhi, the drill will take place at Khan Market, Palika Kendra, Charak Palika Hospital, Vasant Vihar D-6 residential colony, and Kendriya Vidyalaya in Delhi Cantonment.

Delhi to Conduct First-of-Its-Kind Air Raid Drill: Enhancing Civil Defence Preparedness
In a bid to strengthen the city’s readiness for hostile scenarios, Delhi is set to conduct its first-ever air raid and war-related civil defence drill. Led by the district magistrates (DMs), the drill will assess the operational effectiveness of the city’s civil defence systems. This exercise, aimed at evaluating preparedness across various levels, comes under the direction of the Additional Chief Secretary, Revenue-cum-Divisional Commissioner.
Officials have revealed that the district magistrates will be responsible for procuring new sirens with a far-reaching capacity. Unlike the existing sirens with a range of just 200-300 meters, the newly planned sirens will cover distances of 4-5 km. This move is aimed at ensuring a more effective and widespread alert system. A total of 500 sirens will be installed across the city to enhance the air-raid warning system.
The government has also collaborated with the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to create a detailed blueprint for the drill. This plan will include multi-tier action drills at the city, district, community, and household levels, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) will be shared with all relevant departments, Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs), and institutions.

In addition, the government is rolling out civil defence training for students and civilians, instructing them on essential protective measures during a hostile attack. Public awareness campaigns, including videos outlining safety protocols during blackouts, have already been finalized to help citizens stay informed.
This comprehensive drill is a significant step towards enhancing Delhi’s preparedness for emergency situations, ensuring that residents are well-equipped to respond effectively in case of any hostile scenarios.
