Mumbai: Delivery Agent Arrested for Flashing Woman in Girgaon Residence
A 29-year-old food delivery agent has been arrested by the VP Road police for allegedly sexually harassing a 28-year-old woman at her home in Girgaon, Mumbai. The incident occurred on March 21 when the woman opened her door to receive a food order she had placed through a delivery app.
According to police sources, the delivery agent exposed himself by dropping his pants the moment the woman opened the door. Distressed and alarmed, she immediately informed her husband, who was at home at the time.
Scuffle in Building Lobby
The woman’s husband rushed downstairs and confronted the delivery agent in the building’s lobby, where the man was waiting for the lift. A brief altercation took place, during which the accused pushed the husband and fled the scene.
The couple promptly contacted the food delivery platform’s customer service to report the incident. While they were assured that strict action would be taken, the couple later alleged that no visible steps were taken against the delivery agent.
Arrest Made After Two-Week Investigation
Following a police investigation, the accused was located and apprehended in the Gamdevi area near Kennedy Bridge on April 4—15 days after the incident. He was identified as Shahrukh Shaikh Mohammad Shaikh, a 29-year-old resident of Chembur.
Shaikh has been booked under Section 75 of the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), which pertains to sexual harassment, along with other applicable charges. Authorities are now investigating whether he has a history of similar offenses.
