UP Man Arrested After Viral Video Shows Him Lying on Railway Track as Train Passes Over
Unnao, Uttar Pradesh — A disturbing video of a man lying motionless on a railway track as a train speeds over him has gone viral, prompting swift action from authorities. The incident occurred near Kusumbhi railway station in Unnao, Uttar Pradesh. While the individual miraculously escaped unscathed, he was later arrested by the Government Railway Police (GRP).
The video, originally posted on Instagram and set to a dramatic soundtrack from the Bollywood film Baadshah, shows the man lying flat between the rails as the train passes overhead. Once the train clears, he is seen standing up calmly and walking away. The stunt, perceived as an attempt to gain social media fame, triggered widespread public criticism.
The man was identified as Ranjeet Chaurasia, a resident of Nyotani village in Hasanganj. Confirming the arrest, Inspector Arvind Pandey of Unnao stated, “We registered a case as soon as the video came to our attention. The individual has been arrested and sent to jail. Strict legal action will be taken against anyone found misusing railway infrastructure or performing life-threatening stunts.”
This incident adds to a growing trend of hazardous social media content. In a separate case that surfaced recently, another individual was filmed tearing off a seat cover inside an Indian Railways coach and discarding it from a moving train—also apparently for online attention.
Both incidents have drawn sharp criticism from the public and netizens alike, with many calling for stricter enforcement and penalties against those endangering lives and damaging public property in pursuit of viral content.
Authorities have reiterated that such actions not only pose serious risks to the individuals involved but also compromise public safety and the integrity of national infrastructure.
