The Indian government has taken action by suspending access to the official X (formerly Twitter) account of the Pakistan government within Indian territory. The move comes amid heightened tensions and increased security concerns, as authorities intensify their efforts to prevent the spread of misinformation and provocative content during a sensitive period.
In the aftermath of the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, tensions between India and Pakistan have intensified further. The official X account (formerly Twitter) of the Government of Pakistan has now been suspended in India. This move comes amid growing diplomatic strain and heightened security concerns, following the tragic incident that claimed several lives. The suspension underscores the deepening rift and reflects India’s firm stance in response to cross-border terrorism and inflammatory online activity.
India has intensified pressure on Pakistan just a day after implementing a series of punitive measures. The actions come in response to a brutal attack on civilians in Kashmir, with New Delhi accusing Islamabad of backing cross-border terrorism.
India has suspended the Indus Waters Treaty of 1960 and announced a downgrade in diplomatic ties with Pakistan. These measures come in the aftermath of a horrific terror attack in Baisaran near Pahalgam, where 26 civilians — including 25 Indian nationals and one Nepali — were brutally killed.
The assault, described as the deadliest attack on civilians in Kashmir in over 25 years, has sent shockwaves across the nation. The victims, primarily tourists, were targeted in what authorities have called a meticulously planned cross-border terror operation.
CCS Holds Emergency Meeting on Terror Attack; Shuts Attari Check Post, Cancels SAARC Visa Privileges for Pakistan Nationals

New Delhi: The Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS), chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, convened an emergency meeting on Wednesday evening to deliberate on India’s response to the recent terror attack. During the high-level meeting, the government finalized a series of decisive measures to strengthen national security and send a clear message.
In a major development, the CCS announced the immediate closure of the Integrated Check Post (ICP) at Attari. This critical border crossing, which facilitates trade and travel between India and Pakistan, will remain closed until further notice.
Further tightening security measures, the government has suspended the SAARC Visa Exemption Scheme (SVES) benefits for Pakistani nationals. It was also declared that any SVES visas previously issued to Pakistani citizens stand cancelled with immediate effect.
These steps underscore India’s firm stance against cross-border terrorism and aim to reinforce the country’s internal security framework.
In response, India has taken a series of strong diplomatic and strategic actions. Apart from suspending the historic water-sharing agreement, the government has ordered the closure of the main land border crossing in Kashmir and expelled Pakistani military attachés. These steps are aimed at sending a clear message following confirmed links between the attackers and cross-border terror networks.
The Ministry of External Affairs stated that these decisions reflect India’s firm resolve to protect its citizens and sovereignty. The government is also expected to hold high-level meetings to discuss further security and diplomatic responses in the coming days.
This marks a major escalation in tensions between India and Pakistan, with international observers closely monitoring the unfolding developments.
